Jaipur: Chaos erupted at the city's Shaheed Smarak on Monday during a protest by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) when a young man slapped the party's founder, Abhijit Dipke. Following the incident, supporters apprehended the youth and beat him up. Police present at the scene intervened and took the youth into custody.
The Cockroach Janata Party had organized the protest to voice opposition against the NEET paper leak, demand improvements in the education system, highlight irregularities in recruitment exams, and address rising unemployment. A large number of students, youths, parents, and women participated in the event.
According to eyewitnesses, supporters lifted Abhijit Deepke onto their shoulders upon his arrival at Shaheed Smarak. Amidst this, a young man from the crowd approached him and slapped him. The incident sparked outrage among the supporters, who grabbed the youth and began beating him. The police later brought the situation under control and took the accused into custody.
Even before the slapping incident, a dispute had broken out among some youths at the protest site. An argument that began during the sloganeering escalated into a scuffle. Observing the deteriorating situation, the police intervened and detained one youth. Order was subsequently restored, and the event proceeded.
Incidents of mobile phone theft were also reported amidst the crowd at the protest venue. Several people complained that their phones had gone missing. As complaints mounted, the organizers appealed to the crowd from the stage to keep their mobile phones and valuables safe and warned them to be wary of thieves active in the crowd.
Youths participating in the protest carried posters bearing various messages. Slogans such as "I love my country; corruption is unacceptable," "Stop paper leaks," and "Give justice to the youth" were written on the posters. Protesters also arrived carrying the national flag (Tiranga) and raised slogans against the government.
During the protest, young people demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. They argued that the futures of lakhs of youths are being jeopardized by recurring paper leak incidents and flaws in the education system. Protesters raised vociferous slogans against the government regarding this issue.
Before the event began, CJP volunteers drew a sketch of a cockroach on the main gate of the Shaheed Smarak (Martyrs' Memorial). Alongside it, the slogan "Dharmendra Pradhan, Resign" was written. The sketch and slogans remained a focal point of attraction for people throughout the event.
CJP National Spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka stated that this is not a movement belonging to any single organization. He emphasized that this is a fight for the country's students, youth, and parents. The movement is being waged to secure reforms in the education system, ensure transparency in recruitment exams, put a stop to paper leaks, and obtain justice for the youth.
Currently, the police are questioning the youth who delivered the slap. Meanwhile, the protest continued despite the incident, with a large number of young people raising their voices in support of their demands. The police are actively investigating the entire matter.
